About
I'm Joseph Roshier, a final-year law student in Melbourne. I build these tools for the parts of a law degree that take far longer than they should.
Where I’m coming from
I’m finishing my law degree at Swinburne University of Technology, and I work as a law clerk at YourLawyer, where I work with senior partners across a range of matters. Alongside that I spent over a year as a volunteer Legal Intake Officer at South-East Monash Legal Service, sitting in with lawyers as they gave clients preliminary advice on everything from VCAT and Magistrates’ Court matters to torts, crime and civil disputes, and drafting the briefs that came out of those conversations.
Most of what I know about advocacy came from mooting. In 2026 I was selected as team leader for one of two Swinburne teams at the RMIT Junior Criminal Law Moot, where we won every preliminary round and reached the semi-finals. A few weeks later I appeared as Senior Counsel in the Swinburne Senior Moot with my teammate Nicola Burgess, arguing for the prosecution in front of two KCs and our Dean, and we won. Preparing final submissions in 20 minutes between rounds taught me more about structure under pressure than any amount of reading.
I also tutor IT, and I volunteer as an advocacy tutor for Swinburne’s contract law moot. That is really where this site started: I kept writing the same guidance out for different groups of students, so I turned it into something anyone could use.
Why these tools exist
Citation formatting and moot preparation take hours that should go into the actual argument. Every tool here is free, runs entirely in your browser, and sends nothing anywhere. I use them myself, which is the only reason they cover the awkward cases.
If you spot something wrong, or there’s a tool you wish existed, I’d like to hear about it.
